Construction White Card Courses in Australia

Construction works and training course:

Any work carried out in connection with the construction, alteration, conversion, fitting out, commissioning, renovation, repair, maintenance, refurbishment, demolition, decommissioning or dismantling of a structure is known as construction work. This is the definition of Construction work defined in the regulations and means of above mentioned works. In Australia, if a person wants to work in construction sector or field, white card is something that he needs to get, which is mandatory.

White Card Training Course

Training programs or training courses are offered for candidates who are willing to go in construction related jobs. This type of course is known as White Card Training course.
White Card Training - This is actually a term to describe general induction for construction training. This training course is offered to provide basic knowledge of construction work. This course cover understanding and knowing the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Laws that are applied in and for construction works. Also, this course is to let candidates understand about common hazards likely to be encountered in construction work. Candidates learn how the associated risks can be controlled.

Evidence of Attending Induction training – White Card

A White Card is a plastic card. This card is issued by a Registered Training Organization also known as RTA in short. This card is to indicate that a candidate or a person has undertaken general induction training for construction work. In Australia, according to WHS legislation, workers on construction sites must undertake general induction training and they must have evidence of their attendance from the course. They need to show the evidences before they are permitted to commence work on a construction site. Workers are not permitted to carry out construction work without completing general induction training for construction work. And in proof they must have White Card with them. There are several organizations offering such courses for candidates. Also, if candidates want they can search for web portals to find out the lists of Registered Training Organizations having approval to deliver 'White Card' training.

Few quick-points to consider are:
  • Make sure you choose registered organization
  • Make sure the White Card course is accredited
  • Compare course-fee, this may vary little from organizations to organizations
  • Do not go with the discount-fee traps! Good Quality and accredited course is only valid and is required.
